Education and Learning

Adeela has been lecturing for over twenty years. Her main areas are psychology and the psychology of learning. She has a passion for learning and is especially interested in how it can support those who are disadvantaged.


Adeela has spent her career teaching adults and young people from different cultural and educational backgrounds and is aware of the many social and individual barriers to progress.

She has worked extensively on several research projects at the University of Bristol, including working with the Ministry of Education in Rwanda and informing education policy in Pakistan. 

She is also an active community worker in her home town of Bristol where she also stood for MP in 2010.

MyPhD research focus is the educational resilience of young offenders. I have been involved in international projects in Rwanda, Pakistan and more recently contributing to a European project on emotional education and early school leaving.

My current research projects at the University include looking at the impact of assessment on both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
