Biography

Hazel Bryan is a Professor in the School of Education. She has strategic responsibility for the development of research within the School, is Convenor of the Research Priority Area ‘Learning and Professional Contexts’ and is coordinator of the Unit of Assessment 25 (Education).

Hazel’s research interests include education and extremism, policy, values in education, research ethics, and professional learning and development.

Teaching and research

Teaching

Hazel has taught on Ed. D and Master’s Degree programmes. She formerly taught English and Professional Studies on PGCE and BA (QTS) programmes. Her pedagogic approach is informed by Critical Theory and the work of Paulo Freire and Henry Giroux.

Research

Hazel’s research is situated at the intersection of education policy and values in relation to teaching and learning. She also researches professional learning and development.
