Where can you go?
Take a look at this
institution guide for details of the places you could go to study.
Applications for 2019 outbound applications have now closed. The process for applications to study abroad from September 2020 will be published later this year.
How do my grades and credits transfer?
Please be note that the credits you obtain abroad for the modules you study abroad will be mapped to equivalent University of Gloucestershire modules.
You are required to pass all modules taken abroad otherwise you may not be able to progress on to the next stage of your degree
Only the approved equivalent University of Gloucestershire modules will be shown on your University of Gloucestershire transcript. You will receive a separate transcript from your host institution.
Due to the complexities of grade comparisons the grades you obtain during your time abroad will not be converted and will not show on your UoG transcript.
Your University of Gloucestershire transcript will only reflect a pass/fail grade
Your time abroad will count in terms of credits towards your final University of Gloucestershire degree, however, the grades will not be counted. Therefore, your period abroad cannot count towards your overall degree classification.
More information about how your degree classification is calculated can be found in the
Academic Regulations for Taught Provision.
Whilst your time abroad will not incur any additional tuition fees, you need to consider the additional costs involved, such as:
Don’t let cost stop you from the opportunity of a lifetime - just make sure you budget for the total costs. If funding is available how much can you receive and when? Don’t forget to calculate and compare how much you would spend normally if you didn’t go abroad.
We are an Erasmus+ Charter Higher Education Institution, therefore, students who study with one of our European partners in specific subject areas may be eligible to receive funding to contribute to the costs of living abroad for 2020. Study must allow the student to earn credit as part of their degree. Students typically study for 6 months to a year. Students gain credits for their study abroad as usual (60 CAT points per semester).
NB: You can only receive Erasmus+ funding for a total of 12 months in any degree cycle. This includes any work placement funding.
If you want to work in Europe you may be eligible to receive additional funding for 2020.
We are an Erasmus+ Charter Higher Education Institution, therefore, students seeking to undertake a work placement (paid or unpaid) in Europe (Erasmus+ programme countries) may be eligible to receive Erasmus+ funding.
There are three types of placement options open to students, all of which are a minimum of 2 months and a maximum of 12 months’ duration:
A placement that earns credit towards a student’s degree, e.g. a placement year;
A non-credit bearing placement, e.g. a Summer placement (min. 2 months);
A graduate traineeship for recent graduates to be undertaken within the academic year after degree completion. Students must apply before they finish their degree studies.
You can only receive Erasmus+ funding for a total of 12 months in any degree cycle. This includes any graduate traineeship.
Funding is not guaranteed and is subject to availability and suitability.
Funding is designed to assist with the cost of living and travel, not to cover all costs.
The funding amount differs depending on the country of destination.
You need to secure your placement yourself, before applying for funding. The website
http://erasmusintern.org/ may be useful in your search.
Your employer will be required to assist in the completion of the funding application forms.
You are expected to undertake a placement in a field relevant to your studies.
Typically 70% of the total funding amount will be paid upon arrival at your employer and the final 30% will paid after completion and submission of an online report.
