Students Union

Going to University isn't just about study - it's about enjoying the whole experience. As well as the many leisure and social opportunities on offer in the area, the University’s students union has a number of clubs and societies you can join, including the University Choir and MAD: our Music, Acting and Dancing Society.

We also work closely with the local community to promote the arts through placements and other events such as photography shows in hospitals, and workshops with schools.

All full and part-time students at the University of Gloucestershire automatically become a member of the Students' Union (SU). The SU plays a vital role in University life, providing a wide range of services and development opportunities for all students including:

Employment

The SU has its own 'Job Shop' to help you find part-time or temporary work, as well as employing over 60 regular student staff members to help run our services.

Entertainment

Each campus has its own SU Bar, and students are given opportunities to run their own events there. We hold several balls a year, the highlight being our Summer Ball held at Cheltenham Racecourse, which attracts over 5,000 people. It's certainly an event not to be missed.

Representation

The SU represents the student body both internally within the University and externally to the wider community. We also support and represent students on any matters that affect their University life.

Sports and Societies

We have over 40 sports clubs and societies: from football and snowboarding to music, acting, and film, there is plenty to get involved in. If we don't have a club covering your own particular interests, the SU can help you to start your own.

Training and Volunteering

We have a number of volunteering opportunities in the University and the local community, thanks to our Student Community Action (SCA). You can also take advantage of our ‘Sharp' training scheme to develop some new skills. We offer training in everything from presentation skills to First Aid.

And much, much more.
