Car Parking

Our parking facilities are extremely limited, so students, staff and visitors are actively discouraged from using cars for travelling to and from the university.

We also offer ample bicycle racks and motorcycle spaces on each campus. If you do find you need to travel by car, we offer a car parking permit system. Permits are required for staff and students parking on university grounds between the hours of 08.30 and 17.00 Monday to Friday.

Parking Policy

Our car parks are divided into permit holder only parking areas and permit holder and pay and display parking (except at FCH).

General visitors should go to the main car park which is served by pay and display machines.

Fees

  • Student permit £50 per annum (£30 for one semester)
  • Staff permit £50 - £150 depending on salary
  • Person with Disability FoC
  • One day scratch card £1
  • Unfortunately there will be no reductions for part-time or termly staff/students. Permits can not be refunded or replaced.

Caution

We operate a fixed penalty notice policy for cars not displaying a current parking permit, cars parked illegally in disabled, or restricted no parking areas, and cars inconsiderately parked or causing an obstruction. The charge is £60, reduced to £40 if paid within seven days.

How to Apply

On-Line: Save 10% and buy online! Payment can be made by bank card or credit through the online shop.

By post or by hand: download and print the application form, then either send it to FCH Finance office or take it in person to any campus finance office.

Please clearly define on the form if you wish to collect the permit or have it sent to your address.
Please display your receipt in the vehicle until the permit is received.

Car Sharing

Since September 1 2006 we’ve been offering a new permit for car sharers.

The permit costs £45 (regardless of salaries of individuals involved) and is valid for the year.

A member of a car sharing group will be required to be nominated as the lead contact for correspondence and payment.

The permit will be processed and sent to the 'lead contact' together with sufficient windscreen wallets for the vehicles identified. The permit will be required to be moved from vehicle to vehicle depending on which one is being used at the time. Any vehicle being brought to site without displaying the permit will need to pay and display in the main carpark.
