Biography

I’ve performed as a musical director or accompanist across the world, and continue to work professionally, bringing that experience to the university. I have performed at Carnegie Hall (New York) and Sydney Opera House, accompanied Bryn Terfel and Katherine Jenkins and conducted Hayley Westenra. I have conducted massed choirs, and even helped give the Welsh rugby team a singing lesson. I have co-written five musicals, and musically directed countless shows.

Research

David’s research work is primarily in the area of singing, health and wellbeing, exploring the connections between choral singing and good health.

External responsibilities

David continues to work professionally outside the university, as a musical director, accompanist, composer, arranger and orchestrator.

External examining

External examiner for franchised Performing Arts FDAs at the University of South Wales.
