Barry was a technician, then a paramedic, for the North West Ambulance Service moving into education in 2016.

Biography

Barry has a keen interest in teaching technologies and digital literacy. Barry has taught Paramedic, ODP and Surgical Care Practitioner programmes at under- and post-graduate level. He has practised as a paramedic in the the North West Ambulance Service within Greater Manchester and Cheshire. Research interests include TEL, simulation, digital literacy and international collaboration in paramedic practice.

I have a keen interest in using technology in teaching, and teaching technology. My specialist subject areas in health include biochemistry, genetics, leadership and quantitative research.

I am interested in digital literacy and development of digital skills, especially in health academics and health care workers. I have been working on collaborative quantitative projects with international universities.

External responsibilities

I am a emergency medical consultant for ITV script writing. I have been involved in the creation of the Nurse Paramedic role and higher education programme, and have been invited to discuss this at an international level.

I am an external examiner for the University of Bedfordshire BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science programme.
