I've made, listened to and talked about music for as long as I can remember. I love the challenge of working out where to take music next as there’s always another way of playing or singing it. The future of music has never felt more exciting.

I'm a musician and academic, and my main areas of teaching and research include political economy and the philosophy of music, along with composition and performance. I've had an intensely varied career as a creative musician; as a composer for visual media, including the BAFTA-award winning feature film Playing Burton, and the installation '…And The Rest Is Smoke' at the Venice Biennale; as a performer touring in Europe, Scandinavia and the US; and I speak regularly at international conferences. My current research and forthcoming publications focus on global music economies in relation to critical and infrastructural challenges caused by technological disruption.
