Studying an undergraduate Law degree will give you solid grounding in the key areas such as legal methods and skills, constitutional law, criminal law and property law. Throughout your degree you will learn how to argue a case effectively in court, interview clients and negotiate agreements.
Explore the fundamental principles of law in England and Wales on a qualifying law degree recognised by both the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board. You can go on to have a career in politics, the Government, and the police or become a solicitor or barrister.
Our Law degrees are ranked 18th in the UK for student satisfaction in Law and 13th for graduate prospects according to the Complete University Guide 2021. Your degree will be taught in our new state-of-the-art School of Business and Technology building where you will learn how to argue a case effectively in court, interview clients and negotiate agreements, benefitting from simulated trials and tribunals in our Moot Court Room.
On successful completion of a degree in a law subject you will be awarded with an LLB qualification, which is a Bachelor of Law degree classification equivalent to a BA Hons or BSc Hons.
We offer the following LLB degrees:
Through lectures, seminars and group work, you’ll put your learning to the test in class debates and mooting sessions. You’ll have the opportunity to present your findings on case studies in the simulated court room. You can also specialise in a range of subjects including family law, media and entertainment law, company law and human rights, depending on your area of interest.
This course will teach you the foundations of law while also giving you the business management expertise to apply your learning to a business context. Learning from legal and business professionals, you can tailor your experience with optional modules while also working with real companies looking to grow and develop.
During your LLB study you will take both compulsory and optional modules.
Please see here for the full list of modules for the LLB Hons Law degree.
Both of our LLB subjects have placement opportunities throughout the course and you can take the four-year sandwich option which offers a full year in industry.
Learn from people who have been there and done it. Solicitors in private practice, barristers, judges and in-house lawyers from large organisations such as HSBC and NATO will deliver inspiring lectures and give you real insight. Real world application is embedded throughout your degree and you can take part in simulated trials and tribunals as well as mooting competitions. The School of Law also runs a Law clinic where students have the opportunity to shadow a solicitor offering legal advice. All focused on perfectly preparing you for when you graduate.
Grow into a career-ready graduate. Final year students get to work in our Law Clinic, giving advice to real clients on contract law, consumer law or employment law. There are also opportunities to volunteer at the Law Centre or the Citizens Advice Bureau and practise your skills with genuine clients. This will give you the confidence to put your learning into practice and gain essential contacts. Students have gone on to work for leading law firms across Bristol, Birmingham and London. You will also have the chance to do an internship within legal and business environments. All of this is designed to give you the skills and the CV to pursue your chosen career.
