What is Communications and Media BA (Hons)?

If you want to learn how to create powerful messages that deliver real influence; create podcasts and videos, and produce social media campaigns with impact – then this is the course for you.

If you feel strongly about climate change or social equality, or you want to understand the nature of celebrity and power, this course will give you the knowledge and the practical skills to turn your interests into your profession.

You’ll take a ‘behind-the-scenes’ look at the fast-moving world of communications. We’ll give you the toolkit to produce compelling public relations campaigns; the confidence and expertise to handle a communications crisis, and the skills to create effective social media content.

Under the guidance of our expert teaching team, you’ll develop new skills in video production and podcasting alongside copywriting and strategic planning. You’ll graduate prepared to launch into an exciting career in communications.

Study style

You’ll be taught in lectures, seminars and workshops. These will be supported by one-to-one tutorials, practical projects, written coursework, essays and portfolios. You can also complete industry placements.

You’ll have access to facilities described by one of our accreditation bodies as among the very best in the country. Our Media Centre includes professional-standard film, TV, music and news studios, as well as editing suites and production galleries.

If you’re interested in the latest technology used to develop award winning campaigns, you can experiment with our 360 cameras, virtual and augmented reality equipment and green screen studios.

Entry requirements

    • 96 – 120 UCAS tariff points, CCC – BBB at A levels, MMM – DDM at BTEC, or a Merit in your T-Level.

    • English Language or Literature and Maths Grade 4/C in GCSE (or equivalent) are normally required.
