Diagnostic radiography is an allied health profession which uses cutting edge technology to produce diagnostic images in a clinical setting. After completing this programme, graduates are eligible to register with the HCPC and practise as a Diagnostic Radiographer.
Our Diagnostic Radiography BSc (Hons) course scored 98% for teaching and 100% for academic support in the National Student Survey 2023. Our medical sciences courses were also ranked 2nd in the UK for teaching and 1st in the UK for academic support.
Students applying for this course may be eligible for the NHS Learning Support Fund, which provides a non-repayable training grant of £5,000 per academic year.
You’ll learn to use a range of imaging techniques to assess injuries and illnesses. We’ll help you develop the skills and adaptability you need to deliver high quality patient-centred care in a range of settings. You’ll also learn about communication and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
You’ll study the core subjects of anatomy, physiology, pathology, physics and clinical imaging to enable you to apply them to clinical situations. You’ll be able to put theory into practice in our new radiography suite which simulates real clinical setting.
We use a blended learning approach with time divided between university teaching and clinical practice. Around 50% of the course is spent in clinical placement settings under the supervision of experienced diagnostic radiography mentors who support you.

We welcome applications from mature students (aged 21 and over) and do not necessarily require the same academic qualifications as school leaving applicants, although some entry requirements may still apply for Professionally Accredited Courses. We accept Access to Higher Education Diplomas and make offers on an individual basis.
If English is not your first language, you are required to provide a language test certificate as evidence of proficiency. This needs to be at Academic IELTS at 7.0 with no element below 6.5 in all sections of the test.
You must have a minimum of five subjects at GCSE grade 4/C (or equivalent), including English Language, Maths and Science.
