One of three CIPD-approved courses in human resource management, you’ll study as part of a community of students with a rich mix of professional experiences, which will enhance your awareness. Directly aligned to the CIPD’s knowledge requirements, the course offers you the opportunity to build your network.
The course is set at undergraduate level and includes students from varying business backgrounds. You will develop your ability to evaluate the effectiveness of HR models and practices, whilst developing your understanding of wider business operations. You will develop personal planning skills and drawing upon both organisational and academic data, you will see how HR management and HR development make a contribution to business.
Based in our new, purpose-built Business School at our Oxstalls Campus, Gloucester, our postgraduate students develop themselves professionally, build their connections and enhance their knowledge and skills on our range of flexible courses, many of which are accredited by industry bodies. Our lecturers are current and active business professionals, experts and researchers who apply real-world industry experience to their teaching.
Development of knowledge and skills – in both HR and academic study - is facilitated through shared learning in the classroom. So, in addition to tutor teaching, you will participate in problem-based learning through case study, presentations where ‘students are experts’ and analysis of podcasts / videos, as examples. In addition, you will undertake your own reading and research to consolidate your formal learning.
The course is assessed by coursework, such as essays, presentations and portfolios.
Students are allocated a dedicated Personal Tutor for academic and pastoral support throughout the course.
The course is a one year course and bridges the Foundation and Advanced levels of the CIPD qualifications. You will study one afternoon/evening a week.
