If you are interested in health, wellbeing and exercise, this is the ideal course for you. Graduate a step ahead, qualifying as a fitness instructor and personal trainer alongside your degree. You’ll be in high demand from employers and be able to start coaching or instructing immediately upon graduation. You can also top up your course to a full honours degree.
Learn by working with real clients in new facilities on our purpose-built sports campus. Explore the science behind sport and exercise in our state-of-the-art laboratories. You’ll apply scientific theory to training programmes, improving the performance and health of the general population. You can study areas that interest you such as obesity, osteoarthritis or stroke rehabilitation. The majority of learning is through lectures, seminars, gym and laboratory based practicals.
Work placements are at the core of this course. We have strong partnerships with a range of sports businesses and will help you find placement providers that match your interests. Students currently enjoy placements at GL1 Leisure Centre, Leisure@, with Chartered Physiotherapists and BACPR qualified exercise professionals, and Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Learning is split between lectures, seminars and practical sessions. You’ll benefit from our purpose-built sports campus, with an onsite performance lab, strength and conditioning suite, sports therapy clinics, and our all-weather pitch. Study skills and ongoing support is available throughout your degree.
