Our sports courses are in the UK top 20 for graduate prospects and the top 25 for spend per student in sport according to the Guardian University Guide 2020.
This course explores the impact of sport on people’s lives and the various influences that sport might have across our communities and society. It is designed to recognise the range of experience and knowledge that those who have undertaken foundation degrees or HNDs may now have. Delivered one day per week, in order to create a balance between work and study.
In addition to our industry-experienced lecturers you’ll learn from current professional practitioners. Guest lecturers have included David Palmer, the GB coach for under-23s deaf football, and notable speakers from Sports Coach UK. You’ll study the planning and delivery of sports programmes and initiatives, and will undertake work placements and research projects, focusing on the topics that interest you. This will provide you with an invaluable insight into the industry and will greatly support the development of your skills and employability.
Our dedicated sports placement team will work with you to find opportunities that fit with your individual career aspirations. We have links with industry names such as Sport England, Youth Sports Trust, The Football Association, Gloucestershire Sport and Physical Activity Trust, as well as the local councils. Recent students have undertaken work placements with Cheltenham Town Football Club, Gloucester City Council, and local primary and secondary schools.
Your assessments will include a range of coursework, presentations, placements, research and written examinations. To help make your transition onto this course as seamless as possible, you will be allocated a personal tutor.
