Oliver Taylor, graduate in Sport and Exercise Sciences, BSc (Hons).<\/strong><\/p>\n

“I chose University of Gloucestershire because of the content of the physiology module options within Sport & Exercise Science. There were added bonuses such as the amazing location in the heart of the British countryside which offered a real sense of community across Gloucester and Cheltenham.<\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t attend an open day, as my decision to go to university was last-minute, and I applied through the clearing process. One day I was in an office job, sat behind a desk in accountancy, the next, I had just 3 weeks to prepare and plan for university life. I had visited a family member studying at Oxstalls campus, and I was attracted to the size of the facilities all that the local surroundings had to offer.<\/p>\n

The first few weeks of Uni brought feelings of excitement and nerves, with a sense of adventure. Ready to start a new chapter by waving goodbye to my folks after moving into halls and jumping headfirst into meeting my cohort at Upper Quay. I remember trying lots of activities, exploring new interests, sports, and discovering great social venues. Everyone was welcoming and friendly, some of those people became friends for life.<\/p>\n

I felt engaged during my lectures, however, I am a practical learner so I gained more from interactive seminars and found the practical\u2019s enthralling. Being able to use state-of-the-art laboratory equipment that you wouldn\u2019t be able to use anywhere else was super beneficial to my learning experience.<\/p>\n

During my time at The University, I helped run the Outreach Physiology-Lab workshops and participated in PhD research studies. I enjoyed learning about the different subject areas. I took to playing inter-university football, joined a local club rugby and cycled around the countryside. With local sports being so accessible, popping down to support Gloucester Rugby became a regular occurrence.<\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t know what I wanted to do after university apart from spending more time in the physiology labs, so I decided to complete a Masters Degree. During this time I was offered a paid internship at a football club working with academy athletes and medical physiology screening practitioners in preventative primary care.
