{"id":49970,"date":"2023-08-11T09:43:21","date_gmt":"2023-08-11T09:43:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.glos.ac.uk\/courses\/?post_type=case_study&#038;p=49970"},"modified":"2023-08-11T09:43:22","modified_gmt":"2023-08-11T09:43:22","slug":"my-first-year-has-magnified-my-passion-for-law","status":"publish","type":"case_study","link":"https:\/\/www.glos.ac.uk\/courses\/story\/my-first-year-has-magnified-my-passion-for-law\/","title":{"rendered":"My first year has magnified my passion for law"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Chelsea returned to education in 2021 to pursue a degree in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glos.ac.uk\/courses\/course\/law-llb-law\/\">Law<\/a> with a foundation year.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The foundation year allowed me to engage in academia as a mature student. The year gave me the opportunity to carefully decide to continue with my studies, while gaining essential skills to uphold and develop throughout my Law degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the first year of my Law degree I first researched the fundamentals of contract law, of which the module intended to underpin the formalities of contractual activities. This provided me with a solid introduction into the legal industry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout each of my modules, I participated in class discussions and organised debates. This was opportune for developing my research skills and gaining more confidence with public speaking. I specifically enjoyed taking part in mooting in the universities moot court for the Tort Law assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The course leaders structure our learning through a mixture of seminars and lectures, and individual and group work. It has provided me with valuable and immersive learning practices in preparation for a more independent way of learning in my next year to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My first year has magnified my passion for law and I hope to go on to complete a postgraduate degree in Media and Entertainment Law. I plan on focusing my interest of media law throughout my final years at UoG.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am grateful for the experiences I have had so far, and I am glad that I decided to go back into education at this stage in my life.
