He now runs his own writing and editing service called <a href=\"http:\/\/contentforhumans.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Content For Humans<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">I developed writing, editing and storytelling skills at UoG<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Combining <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glos.ac.uk\/courses\/course\/crw-ba-creative-writing\/\">Creative Writing<\/a> with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glos.ac.uk\/courses\/course\/elt-ba-english-literature\/\">English Literature<\/a> gave me a wonderful variety of research, exploration and chances to tell stories. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I discovered new favourite authors, from PD James\u2019 trailblazing female detective to the shock and awe of Chuck Palahniuk\u2019s masterful storytelling. I found acceptance in reading my coming-out stories aloud in autobiography seminars. I wrote literary essays and all sorts of fiction \u2013 fantasy, thriller, romance, sci-fi. Some were planned and workshopped with fellow students \u2013 some were quickfire creations. I\u2019m still writing a light-hearted trilogy about Hell that I started at UoG.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I also enjoyed proofreading essays and dissertations for other students. Odd?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">I refined my skills in marketing roles<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I started in marketing and editorial assistant roles \u2013 including UoG\u2019s comms team. I found my content writing, proofreading and website skills made me an asset, working my way up to website editor, content executive, senior marketing officer\u2026 What I enjoyed wasn\u2019t just churning out information for potential customers or future students, but making it easy, simple and full of human stories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">I launched Content For Humans<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I realised I\u2019d always been creating content for humans \u2013 telling human stories in relatable and inclusive ways. So it was ace to find the domain for <a href=\"\/\/\/Users\/timmo\/Downloads\/UoG\/contentforhumans.co.uk\">contentforhumans.co.uk<\/a> was available. I grabbed it and began working freelance for previous employers and connections. My clients now include universities, sustainability experts, designers, ethical brands and fiction authors. Self-employment is tricky sometimes, but I love the autonomy, creativity and variety (and the quiet!). Plus the occasional digital nomad adventure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">UoG changed everything<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I wouldn\u2019t have had the skills, inspiration or confidence to set up my own business without studying and working at UoG. I entered university feeling aimless and isolated.
