Despite the non-stop rain (Cheltenham still manages to look beautiful!) our third-year students have been braving the weather to get out and about this week for some \u2018hands-on\u2019 learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First stop was a visit to the Cheltenham HQ of Camargue, a national PR and communications agency, which counts Transport for London and BP among their client base. Hosted by University of Gloucestershire alumni Jade and Charlotte, who now work at the agency, students were able to get the lowdown first-hand on what it\u2019s really like to work at a PR agency and how our two former students forged their careers in the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our BA (Hons) Media and Communications students were also able to explore some of the work that the agency do and discuss how their interests could shape their future career plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Third-year student Izzy Hornblow particularly enjoyed the visit:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur trip to Camargue provided valuable insights into B2B and stakeholder comms, as well as a deeper understanding of what it\u2019s like to work in a PR agency. Thank you, Camargue, for having us it was great fun!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students from across all three years also visited the Cheltenham Literature Festival to learn from the on-site PR and comms team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With industry links a super important part of studying on the BA (Hons) Communications and Media<\/a> degree, trips out and guest lectures where students can meet nationally acclaimed industry professionals are a key part of learning at UoG.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Helping our students forge links and to learn from people working in the communications industry is at the heart of what we do and really strengthens employability for our students,\u201d said Mel Beeby Clarke, lecturer in Media and Communications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn such a fast-paced sector where technology is driving rapid change, there’s no better way for our students to enrich their learning than at the coal-face of industry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
