PGCE Secondary Geography student Hope explains how a PGCE will push you but also be one of the most fulfilling things you can do.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I started my PGCE knowing I wanted to become a geography teacher. It was always the subject I felt most passionate about and sharing that passion with the next generation just felt right. If you\u2019re thinking about doing a PGCE, it\u2019s completely normal to feel nervous – I definitely was. Walking into classrooms for the first time and trying to find your feet can be daunting. But one thing you quickly realise is that you\u2019re not doing it alone. You get to know the people on your course so quickly, and that sense of support makes a huge difference. The subject knowledge leaders are also incredible, they\u2019re always there when you need help, advice, or even just a boost in confidence (which I personally needed at times). You\u2019re constantly supported, even on the days when you doubt yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That being said, it\u2019s important to be honest, the PGCE is intense. It\u2019s challenging, fast-paced, and there will be moments where it feels tough. But it is also incredibly rewarding. There is nothing quite like seeing a student have that \u2018lightbulb moment\u2019 when something finally clicks, or hearing a simple \u2018thanks for the lesson\u2019 and knowing you\u2019ve made a difference. Those small moments make everything worth it. If you\u2019re considering a PGCE, go in knowing it will push you, but also knowing that it\u2019s one of the most fulfilling things you can do.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
