Accommodation Waiver 2020/21

Recipients of the University of Gloucestershire’s Accommodation Waiver will receive £1,000 discount on Halls of Residence rent.

Eligibility

Eligible students will:
• resident in the UK and eligible for home fees
• be a new entrant student to the University for the 2020-2021 academic year
• be starting on the first year (level 4) of a full-time undergraduate degree that charges the full University tuition fee from the new 2017 fee arrangements
• be under 21 years on entry to the University
• be in receipt of means tested support and assessed by a Student Finance Authority (e.g. Student Finance England) as having a house hold income of less than £18,000 and consented to share their/their sponsors household income with their Student Finance Authority.

You need to pay the accommodation booking fee and enrol onto your course at the University.

The Halls of Residence Accommodation Waiver will be automatically applied to the spring and summer term of your tenancy agreement, as long as you have enrolled and arranged for your tuition fees to be paid (either from your own funds or via a tuition fee loan).

The discount applied to your rent is as follows:

• Spring term: £500
• Summer term: £500
• Total Halls of Residence Accommodation Waiver: £1,000

The Halls of Residence Accommodation Waiver cannot be transferred to Halls of Residence not managed by the University (this includes Blackfriars as this residence is not managed by the University).

You will receive a full invoice for your accommodation, the amounts above will be deducted from your overall invoice during the spring and summer term as appropriate.

If you withdraw from the University and depart halls between the start of the contract and the spring term instalment date, you will not be entitled to any discount. If you withdraw from the University and depart halls between the spring term and summer term instalment dates you will be entitled to £500 discount only. If withdraw from the University and depart halls after the summer term instalment date you will be entitled to the full £1,000 discount.

The waiver is only available in the first year of study (level 4) and cannot be rolled over into subsequent academic years.

Exclusions

Students will not be eligible for the Accommodation Waiver if:
• they are a direct entry student into level 5 or above; postgraduate, EU or international student; or studying on a franchise, hybrid or validated University of Gloucestershire course at another institution.
• they are studying a second degree.
