There are no subject restrictions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">If your course is integrated with a Doctoral Degree, you will need to apply for the Postgraduate Doctoral Loan rather than the Postgraduate Loan. For more information please contact us<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">The loan is paid directly to your bank account in 3 instalments per academic year and can be used at your discretion towards fees, living costs or other costs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">If you have previously studied a Master\u2019s course and received payments from the postgraduate loan but you did not complete the course due to compelling personal reasons \u2013 you may be eligible for another loan. You will be able to pay the tuition fees by direct debit instalments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Tuition fees can be paid to the university over 10 monthly direct debit instalments if full time; 20 monthly instalments if part-time or by 3 instalments per year that coincide with your postgraduate loan payments. You can select your preferred payment option during online enrolment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">If your fees are being paid by your employer or other sponsor, they will need to complete a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glos.ac.uk\/information\/knowledge-base\/sponsorship-authorisation-form\/\">Sponsorship Authorisation Form<\/a>. Once uploaded into your account, the Income Team will issue an invoice and full payment of Tuition Fees will be payable within 30 days from the date of the invoice. If sponsorship is less than 100% you can pay the balance of your fees by direct debit instalments as mentioned above.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Following graduation, funding is repayable once you start earning over \u00a321,000&nbsp;and is repayable at 6% of income, so for example on gross earnings of \u00a325,000, you would repay \u00a320 per month.&nbsp; Repayments will be deducted from your salary via your National Insurance Contributions. &nbsp;If you are self-employed HM Revenue &amp; Customs (HMRC) will work out how much you repay each year from your tax return. It comes in the form of practical support not additional funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can apply for DSAs if you live in England and have a disability that affects your ability to study, such as a:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">learning difficulty, for example dyslexia, dyspraxia or ADHD<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">mental health condition such as anxiety or depression<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">physical disability, for example if you are partially sighted or have to use crutches<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">long-term health condition such as cancer, chronic heart disease or HIV.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You must also:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">be an undergraduate or postgraduate student<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">qualify for funding from Student Finance England<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">be studying on a course that lasts at least a year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You are not eligible if you are:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">an EU student who is only eligible for a Tuition Fee Loan<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">eligible for an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk\/Students\/3942.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NHS Disabled Students\u2019 Allowance<\/a> (this is a separate scheme)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">getting equivalent support from another funding source, either from your University or a Social Work Bursary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">Evidence requirements<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table is-style-stripes\"><table><thead><tr><th>Condition<\/th><th>Proof<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>Disabilities or long-term health condition<\/td><td>Report or letter from your doctor or consultant &#8211; you can also fill in the <a href=\"http:\/\/media.slc.co.uk\/sfe\/nysf\/sfe_dsa_disability_evidence_form.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">disability evidence form<\/a><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Mental-health condition<\/td><td>Report or letter from your doctor or consultant &#8211; you can also fill in the <a href=\"http:\/\/media.slc.co.uk\/sfe\/nysf\/sfe_dsa_disability_evidence_form.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">disability evidence form<\/a><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Specific learning difficulty like dyslexia<\/td><td>A \u2018diagnostic assessment\u2019 from a psychologist or suitably qualified specialist teacher \u2013 you will need to be reassessed if you had this done when you were under 16<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For all students in 2026\/27 the DSA allowance is simplified into one allowance.\u00a0 An exception will be the Travel Allowance that will in effect be uncapped. For more information, please email <a href=\"mailto:counselling@glos.ac.uk\">counselling@glos.ac.uk<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Chaplaincy Team offer informal, accessible support to students of all faiths and worldviews.\u00a0They provide Sanctuary spaces on each campus \u2013 comfortable, quiet spaces which all students are welcome to use.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The chaplains can often be found in the Sanctuary, or contacted via <a href=\"mailto:chaplaincy@glos.ac.uk\">chaplaincy@glos.ac.uk<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">Additional information<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">Enrolment<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Before you start the new course, you will need to do the following to trigger the release of the first Postgraduate Loan instalment:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol style=\"list-style-type:1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Enrol online \u2013 you will receive an invitation to enrol by e-mail<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Upload a photo for your student ID card<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Upload secondary evidence of your ID such as a photo of your Passport or Driving Licence<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Complete the \u2018in-person\u2019 check during Induction<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note that the above applies even if you previously studied at University of Gloucestershire. All students on <strong>new<\/strong> courses will need to follow this process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">Financial Assistance Fund<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Once enrolled you can apply to the University\u2019s Financial Assistance Fund for help towards paying for such things as field trips or accommodation etc. Money can\u2019t be guaranteed from this source, but it is worth applying as awards do not have to be repaid. Apply online via your Student Record from the start of the academic year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note that as a postgraduate student, you will need to provide evidence that you have made reasonable provision to cover your Tuition Fees and basic living costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">Trusts and charities<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>There are individual trusts and charities that offer support for Education. Research Councils also offer financial support. You can find resources on postgraduate funding via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prospects.ac.uk\/postgraduate-study\/funding-postgraduate-study\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">prospects.ac.uk<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.findamasters.com\/guides\/research-councils#:~:text=What%20does%20Research%20Council%20funding,the%20duration%20of%20a%20programme.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">findamasters.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">Council tax<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Full time students are exempt from paying Council Tax. If you live with one adult who is not a full-time student the 25% Single Occupancy Discount will apply. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A certificate of exemption will be required by the Council.&nbsp; This can be accessed via your Student Record Online once you have enrolled on the full-time course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">Benefits<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are currently receiving benefits, please note that the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will take 30% of the Postgraduate Loan into account when re-calculating your entitlement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">Student bank account<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>If you still have a student account, once enrolled take confirmation of your enrolment to the bank to ensure your account remains interest free, as most banks offer additional years for a student account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you need information on halls or housing?\u00a0The University\u2019s Accommodation Team can help.\u00a0 For more information, view our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glos.ac.uk\/accommodation\/\">Accommodation pages<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">How much do I need to live on? <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>This will depend on the individuals\u2019 circumstances so an exact figure cannot be given. Be careful of emails or texts asking for sensitive information to be provided urgently \u2013 these are phishing emails and smishing texts.&nbsp;Always check them out before replying and note that official organisations, such as the University, Student Finance, Student Loans Company, Banks and HMRC, never ask for personal information (e.g. bank account details) to be provided by email, text or phone.
