UK Green Gown Awards 2022<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The University was a finalist in the \u2018Tomorrow\u2019s Employees\u2019 category for our \u2018Empowering ChangeMakers\u2019 project \u2013 a collaboration with Cheltenham Education Partnership, The Sustainability Team and our School of Education. The project supported young people in learning for change, driving local outcomes and forging future sustainability-focused careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Congratulations to Adam Hart who was appointed as the new vice president of the Royal Entomological Society<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The society is devoted to understanding and development of insect science and the importance of insects to the world\u2019s ecosystems.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Well done to the ChangeMakers project team who were worthy winners of the 2023 sustainability award at the University Staff Awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This recognition was credit to the delivery of exciting and creative training for 120 secondary school students that accelerated their confidence and skills in sustainability.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Standards and accreditations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We continue to prioritise and uphold the good practices needed to maintain our status and accreditations in key areas of our sustainability programme:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ISO 14001 – our Environment Management System <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This is externally audited by British Standards Institute and provides assurance of our active approach to environmental protection and improvement across the University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

United Nations Regional Centre of Expertise in sustainability education<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

known as RCE Severn, we are part of the global network of RCEs co-ordinated by the United Nations University Institute of Advanced Studies \u2013 these partnership hubs develop sustainability learning activities to build capacity for change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
