{"id":16714,"date":"2024-06-06T11:06:34","date_gmt":"2024-06-06T11:06:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.glos.ac.uk\/information\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=16714"},"modified":"2024-07-23T09:50:11","modified_gmt":"2024-07-23T09:50:11","slug":"collaboration","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/www.glos.ac.uk\/information\/knowledge-base\/annual-sustainability-report-2022-23\/collaboration\/","title":{"rendered":"Collaboration"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As one of the Regional Centres of Expertise (RCE) co-ordinated by the United Nations University, we are not just focused on building capacity in our staff and students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As RCE Severn we aim to co-operate and co-learn with our partners outside the university, to develop sustainability skills together and help us all to deliver on shared sustainability aims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This section shares some of our favourite collaboration stories from 2022-23 that have reached across different professions, community groups and sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/cmsr-web-assets.glos.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/129\/2024\/06\/07112823\/RCE-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-129000006590\" style=\"width:554px;height:auto\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">Sustainability toolkit for live events<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Andrew Lansley, Senior Lecturer in Music Business, designed a Donut Assessment Tool for Events (DATE) in collaboration with a range of partners, including Cheltenham Borough Council, and Cheltenham Festivals. The tool helps event organisers to understand their commitment and practices around sustainability and accessibility and embeds a \u2018Green Events Code\u2019 developed by Vision 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<h2 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">Creative promotions of sustainable travel initiatives<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the MDes course, students worked as a design studio for the CheltenhamZero team at Cheltenham Borough Council to design a campaign concept and flexible system called ChAT (Cheltenham Active Travel) that could be used to promote a range of sustainability themes in the town options.<\/p>\n<\/div><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/cmsr-web-assets.glos.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/129\/2024\/07\/02113754\/MDes-Chelt-Zero-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-129000006745 size-full\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">Leading the way on Net Zero plans &#8211; conference session for HE and FE sector<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Alex Ryan, Director of Sustainability and Dr Jon Furley, Sustainability Operations Manager teamed up with Interface \u2013 international flooring manufacturer and leaders in sustainable business; to deliver a workshop session at the EAUC conference. The session showcased the University\u2019s journey to Net Zero Carbon with practical insights on how to implement realistic plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<h2 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">Mock UN Climate Conference<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The International Relations course team hosted a mock UN climate conference for young people across Gloucestershire. Groups worked to represent countries seeking to reach a deal on carbon emissions and limit the worst effects of climate change. Arran trained teachers in Japan through a series of online workshops about Ecolinguistics, and teachers then re-designed the curriculum, helping students to express ecological insight from Japanese culture in English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">Sustainable champions network for local businesses<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The University\u2019s Business School partnered with Visit Gloucestershire to bring together 14 businesses to champion sustainability, adapt to evolving challenges, and share best practice. Businesses offer each other peer-to-peer support, share case studies, and collaborate to meet the net-zero objectives set by the Gloucestershire County Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">Reporting on the UN Global Goals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This report meets our annual reporting commitments on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as an institutional signatory to the tertiary sector SDG Accord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout this annual report, we record how the actions and results shown in this report contribute to the delivery of the UN SDGs.
