Purpose<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>1.1 The University of Gloucestershire Careers and Employability Team is committed to developing ethical, sustainable and professional relationships with external employers, charities, recruitment agencies and partner organisations to support student and graduate employability.<br><br>1.2 This Policy outlines the principles and standards that guide decisions relating to employer engagement, recruitment activity and the promotion of opportunities to students and graduates.<br><br>1.3 The Policy applies to all Careers and Employability activity, including but not limited to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Employer events and careers fairs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Vacancy advertising through UniHub<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Placements, internships and work-related learning<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Volunteering opportunities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Mentoring and networking activity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Curriculum collaboration and guest speaking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Social media promotion and employer marketing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>1.4 This Policy should be read alongside the University of Gloucestershire Careers and Employability Terms and Conditions and Privacy Notice for Employers, Charities, Third Parties and External Stakeholders.<br><br>1.5 This Policy is effective from 2026 until further notice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">2. Scope<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>2.1 This Policy applies to all third-party organisations engaging with the Careers and Employability Team, including employers, charities, recruitment agencies, intermediary organisations and external stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2.2 The University encourages ethical and sustainable employer engagement across all academic schools and professional service departments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2.3 The Careers and Employability Team reserves the right to approve, decline or withdraw engagement with any organisation where activity is considered inconsistent with University policies, values, legal obligations or student interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">3. Ethical and Sustainable Engagement<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>3.1 The Careers and Employability Team is committed to delivering services in line with professional and ethical standards established by organisations including Graduate Futures Institute, ASET, NASES and relevant regulatory bodies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.2 The University aims to provide students and graduates with access to a diverse range of career opportunities and employer engagement activities across multiple sectors and industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.3 Where opportunities involve complex ethical, environmental or social considerations, such as Arms &amp; Defence industries the University will seek to provide balanced and transparent information to support informed student decision-making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.4 The Careers and Employability Team supports organisations working towards positive environmental, social and sustainability outcomes, including net-zero and social responsibility initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.5 Employer engagement criteria will not affect the impartiality of careers guidance provided to students and graduates. Careers guidance will remain objective, evidence-based and student-focused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.6 The Careers and Employability Team will seek to reduce the environmental impact of employer engagement activity by encouraging sustainable event practices, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Reducing paper-based materials and printed marketing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Encouraging environmentally responsible promotional items<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Encouraging the use of reusable materials and water bottles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Promoting public transport and car sharing for on-campus events<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>3.7 The University will continue to review employer engagement activity and delivery methods to support sustainable and environmentally responsible practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.8 As a member of the Graduate Futures Institute, the Careers and Employability Team adhere to the Graduate Futures Institute Code of Ethics and associated professional standards.<br><br>3.9 All new employer and partner organisations engaging with the Careers and Employability Team will be expected to comply with this Policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">4. Third-Party Employers and Recruitment Agencies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Recruitment agencies may advertise opportunities through the University\u2019s Careers and Employability services. However, the University reserves the right to decline vacancies that conflict with the services provided by Unitemps, the University of Gloucestershire\u2019s internal recruitment agency for student and graduate employment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Third-party organisations recruiting students or graduates are encouraged to use Unitemps wherever possible for temporary, flexible and part-time recruitment needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4.1 The University permits engagement with third-party employers, recruitment agencies and intermediary organisations where this supports access to appropriate opportunities for students and graduates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4.2 All organisations advertising opportunities through UniHub or engaging in Careers and Employability activity must demonstrate fairness, transparency and compliance with relevant legislation and University requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4.3 Opportunities advertised must represent genuine employment, placement, internship or volunteering opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4.4 Where a role is internal to a recruitment agency or intermediary organisation, this must be clearly stated within the advertisement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4.5 Where a role is being advertised on behalf of a client organisation, sufficient transparency regarding the recruiting organisation and nature of the opportunity must be provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4.6 All opportunities must clearly state salary, pay rates or remuneration details, including any relevant costs, benefits or eligibility requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4.7 All opportunities must comply with relevant employment, equality, immigration and health and safety legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">Restricted Industries and Ethical Considerations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>5.1 In line with the University\u2019s commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, the Careers and Employability Team will not promote opportunities from organisations operating primarily within the following sectors:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Tobacco<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Mining<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Fossil fuels<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>5.2 Opportunities associated with these sectors will be declined from promotion through University platforms and activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5.3 Engagement with organisations operating within the arms and defence sector will be considered on a case-by-case basis, taking into account academic relevance, institutional values and the interests of students and graduates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5.4 Where engagement with ethically sensitive industries takes place, the University will seek to provide balanced, impartial and transparent information to support informed student choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">University Discretion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>6.1 The University reserves the right to approve, reject, suspend or remove any employer, organisation, event or opportunity from its platforms or activities at its discretion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6.2 Opportunities or organisations may be declined where they:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Conflict with University values or policies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Raise ethical, legal, safeguarding or sustainability concerns<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Lack sufficient transparency or professionalism<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Are not considered to be in the best interests of students or graduates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>6.3 The University\u2019s decision regarding engagement and promotion of opportunities will be final.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Careers and Employability service will review this policy annually to ensure it remains relevant, current and fit for purpose.
