Most students will be eligible for one or the other, but <strong>you cannot receive<\/strong> both at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">Postgraduate Loan<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Eligible students can apply for a non-means tested Postgraduate Master\u2019s Loan of \u00a313,206 through Student Finance England.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This loan is per course (not per year).&nbsp;&nbsp; The loan is paid directly to you in three equal instalments in each academic year \u2013 one instalment per term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can use this funding to pay tuition fees to the University and for living costs.&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glos.ac.uk\/information\/knowledge-base\/sfe-postgraduate-masters-funding\/\">View more information on the Postgraduate Loan<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">Social Work Bursary<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A limited number of Social Work Bursaries may* be available each year. Students are nominated by the University and there is no guarantee of receiving an award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The University will submit a shortlist of students to the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA), who will then assess eligibility.&nbsp; This bursary does not have to be repaid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>*Please note that this bursary scheme is currently under review<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To be eligible, you must:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">normally live in England on the first day of the academic year<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">not already hold a Higher Education qualification in Social Work<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">not be receiving other funding for your MA course<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are awarded the bursary, you may receive the following support:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">Tuition Fees<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A contribution of up to \u00a34,052* per academic year towards your tuition fees in each year.&nbsp;&nbsp; This is paid directly to the University.<br><br>As tuition fees for the MA Social Work course are more than the contribution, you will need to self-fund the difference.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">Placement Travel Allowance<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a3862.50* per academic year to help towards placement travel costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is included within the non-income assessed bursary and paid in three instalments per academic year \u2013 one instalment per term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">Non-Income Assessed Bursary<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a33,362.50* per academic year<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">Income Assessed Bursary<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Up to \u00a32,721* per academic year<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The income considered for the means-test includes your own taxable unearned income and your partner\u2019s taxable income if applicable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Please note that as the duration of the course is 20 months rather than 24, the bursary amounts in the second year will be reduced accordingly.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">Additional Support<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Depending on your circumstances, you may also be eligible for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">Adult Dependants\u2019 Allowance<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Up to \u00a33,545 if you have an adult who is financially dependent on you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">Parents\u2019 Learning Allowance<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Up to \u00a31,573 if you have a dependent child under the age of 19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">Childcare Allowance<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A means-tested grant covering up to 85% of registered childcare costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maximum weekly amounts are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">\u00a3188.90 for one child<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">\u00a3323.85 for two or more children<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You will not be eligible if you receive:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">the childcare element of Universal Credit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Tax-Free Childcare from HMRC<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">childcare support through Working Tax Credit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Your childcare provider must also be registered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">Disabled Students\u2019 Allowance (DSA)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Support is available for students with disabilities, long-term health conditions, mental health conditions, or specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Support is based on recommendations made within a Needs Assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Please note that if you are not awarded the Social Work Bursary, you may still be able to:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">claim the Placement Travel Allowance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">apply for the Postgraduate Master\u2019s Loan through Student Finance England<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"heading wp-block-heading\">How and when to apply<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk\/social-work-bursary-swb\/social-work-bursary-postgraduate-students\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk\/social-work-bursary-swb\/social-work-bursary-postgraduate-students\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Applications are made through the NHSBSA<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can only apply once you have started your course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note: Student Finance England may ask for confirmation that you are not receiving the Social Work Bursary before they can fully process your Postgraduate Loan application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you need to contact NHSBSA directly, their helpline number is 0300 330 1342.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">mental health conditions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>DSA is not means tested and does not need to be repaid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Support is tailored to individual needs and may include specialist equipment, software, mentoring, or study support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you would like further advice and DSA, please email the University\u2019s Disability Team:&nbsp;
