The Freedom of Information Act came into full force in January 2005. Its purpose is to promote greater openness and accountability across the public sector. Under the terms of the act, there is a general right of public access to all types of recorded information held by \u2018public bodies\u2019, which includes schools, colleges and universities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the provisions of the act you can access information held by the University of Gloucestershire in two ways:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The university is required to produce and maintain a publication scheme<\/a>. This is a guide to the information that the university publishes or intends to publish as a matter of routine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The act provides a right of access to recorded information held by the university. On receipt of a written request, the university is required to inform the enquirer that it holds the information; and, if it does, to supply the information within 20 working days, subject to the exemptions set out in the act.
