{"id":3022,"date":"2020-11-23T16:43:26","date_gmt":"2020-11-23T16:43:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.glos.ac.uk\/information\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=3022"},"modified":"2022-09-16T14:42:25","modified_gmt":"2022-09-16T14:42:25","slug":"care-leavers-scholarship-2021-22","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/www.glos.ac.uk\/information\/knowledge-base\/care-leavers-scholarship-2021-22\/","title":{"rendered":"Care Leavers Scholarship 2021\/22"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"\">In 2021\/22, scholarships of up to \u00a36,625 per annum will be offered to University of Gloucestershire students of Home\/EU status, who have been in local authority care in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The Care Leavers Scholarship consists of:<br>\u2022 a 50% tuition fee waiver for each year of full-time study AND<br>\u2022 a bursary towards general living or accommodation costs: *<br>o \u00a32000 in the first year (Level 4)<br>o \u00a31000 in the second year (Level 5)<br>o \u00a31000 in the final year (Level 6). This amount can be increased to \u00a32000, if the student has an average pass mark of 60% or more at Level 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">*The bursary can be received as discounted halls of residence fees, OR cash support for students living in private accommodation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"heading  is-4 is-4--mobile wp-block-heading\">Eligibility<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Eligible students will:<br>\u2022 have been in the care of a local authority in the UK for a period of 3 months or more between the age of 14 and school-leaving age (18 years)<br>\u2022 be a new entrant to the university for the 2021\/22 academic year<br>\u2022 be entering their first year of full-time undergraduate study in the 2021\/22 academic year<br>\u2022 be a \u2018Home\u2019 student for tuition fee purposes and be eligible for full tuition fees of \u00a39,250<br>\u2022 be aged under 25 at their point of entry<br>\u2022 not hold an equivalent or higher qualification i.e. you must not already hold a qualification that is equivalent or higher to the BA\/BSc degree that you will be undertaking<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"heading  is-4 is-4--mobile wp-block-heading\">Further information<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Scholarship awards regarding general living costs are paid directly into students\u2019 bank accounts in three instalments;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Entry date<\/strong><\/td><td><\/td><td><strong>Instalments<\/strong><\/td><td><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>September 2021<\/td><td>25% at end of Nov 2021<\/td><td>25% at end of Feb 2022<\/td><td>50% at end of May 2022<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>January 2022<\/td><td>25% at end of Feb 2022<\/td><td>25% at end of May 2022<\/td><td>50% at end of Nov 2022<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">A scholarship holder who transfers from full-time to part-time enrolment will cease to be eligible to hold the scholarship. A student on their year-long placement (as part of a \u2018sandwich\u2019 programme) will only be entitled to the 50% fee waiver whilst on placement. The Care Leavers Scholarship is only available to students studying on courses delivered by the University of Gloucestershire. The scholarship will be terminated for any student who ceases to be enrolled as a student of the University of Gloucestershire. If either the scholarship or enrolment are terminated for any reason, the student must repay the University any monies overpaid, based on a pro-rata calculation from the date of the termination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The University of Gloucestershire has a dedicated Money Advice Team to offer information, advice and guidance on all aspects of student finance.
