In particular, you need to check that:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">your current immigration permission allows you to apply from inside the UK;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">you apply before your current immigration permission expires;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">your new course meets the 28-day requirement, where applicable; or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">a person with permission outside the Immigration Rules, subject to limited exceptions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>You must also not be on immigration bail.<\/p>\n\n<p>If you are in one of the categories from which switching is not permitted, you will normally need to leave the UK and apply for a Student visa from overseas.<\/p>\n\n<p>If you have settled or pre-settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme, you do not normally need a Student visa.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n<div  class=\"wp-block collapsibleRow \">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"collapsibleRow__wrapper\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"collapsibleRow__item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<input  type=\"checkbox\" name=\"collapsibleRow_group_5059\" class=\"is-sr-only collapsibleRow_group_checkbox collapsibleRow_checkbox\" id=\"collapsibleRow_group_5059_4704\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t<label id=\"collapsibleRow_group_label_5059_4704\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapsibleRow_group_5059_4704\" role=\"button\" for=\"collapsibleRow_group_5059_4704\" class=\"collapsibleRow__title base-text has-grey-light-background-color has-black-color\"><span class=\"is-sr-only\">Toggle collapsibleRow<\/span>04 \u2013 What is the academic progression requirement?<\/label>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"panel\" hidden aria-labelledby=\"collapsibleRow_group_label_5059_4704\" id=\"collapsibleRow_group_5059_4704\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n<p>If you currently have, or previously had, Student or Tier 4 (General) permission and want to make another Student visa application from inside the UK, you will normally need to meet the academic progression requirement.<\/p>\n\n<p>In most cases, this means you must have successfully completed the course for which your previous Student permission was granted and your new course should normally be at a higher academic level.<\/p>\n\n<p>A new course at the same academic level may be permitted where it is at degree level or above and the University can confirm that:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">the new course is related to your previous course; or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">the combination of the two courses supports your genuine career aspirations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>There are also specific exceptions, including circumstances where you need additional Student permission to complete your existing course, repeat modules or resit examinations.<\/p>\n\n<p>If your proposed study does not meet the academic progression requirements for an application made inside the UK, you may still be able to study the course, but you would normally need to leave the UK and apply for your Student visa from overseas.<\/p>\n\n<p>International Student Services will assess academic progression before issuing a CAS for an application from inside the UK.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n<div  class=\"wp-block collapsibleRow \">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"collapsibleRow__wrapper\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"collapsibleRow__item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<input  type=\"checkbox\" name=\"collapsibleRow_group_4245\" class=\"is-sr-only collapsibleRow_group_checkbox collapsibleRow_checkbox\" id=\"collapsibleRow_group_4245_2029\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t<label id=\"collapsibleRow_group_label_4245_2029\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapsibleRow_group_4245_2029\" role=\"button\" for=\"collapsibleRow_group_4245_2029\" class=\"collapsibleRow__title base-text has-grey-light-background-color has-black-color\"><span class=\"is-sr-only\">Toggle collapsibleRow<\/span>05 \u2013 My current visa expires more than 28 days before the start date of my course \u2013 can I apply from inside the UK?<\/label>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"panel\" hidden aria-labelledby=\"collapsibleRow_group_label_4245_2029\" id=\"collapsibleRow_group_4245_2029\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n<p>No.<\/p>\n\n<p>If you are applying for Student permission from inside the UK for a new course, your new course must normally start no more than <strong>28 days after your current immigration permission expires<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>For example, if your current immigration permission expires on 1 December, your new course must normally start no later than 29 December.<\/p>\n\n<p>If the gap is more than 28 days, you will normally need to leave the UK and make your Student visa application from overseas.<\/p>\n\n<p>The 28-day requirement applies regardless of the type of immigration permission you currently hold.<\/p>\n\n<p>Contact International Student Services before making travel or visa arrangements if this applies to you.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n<div  class=\"wp-block collapsibleRow \">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"collapsibleRow__wrapper\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"collapsibleRow__item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<input  type=\"checkbox\" name=\"collapsibleRow_group_6037\" class=\"is-sr-only collapsibleRow_group_checkbox collapsibleRow_checkbox\" id=\"collapsibleRow_group_6037_3878\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t<label id=\"collapsibleRow_group_label_6037_3878\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapsibleRow_group_6037_3878\" role=\"button\" for=\"collapsibleRow_group_6037_3878\" class=\"collapsibleRow__title base-text has-grey-light-background-color has-black-color\"><span class=\"is-sr-only\">Toggle collapsibleRow<\/span>06 \u2013 Can I submit a Student visa application if I have overstayed my visa?<\/label>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"panel\" hidden aria-labelledby=\"collapsibleRow_group_label_6037_3878\" id=\"collapsibleRow_group_6037_3878\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n<p>You should submit your Student visa application <strong>before your current immigration permission expires<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>If your immigration permission expires before you make a valid new application, you will normally become an overstayer.<\/p>\n\n<p>Overstaying can have serious consequences for your immigration status and future immigration applications.<\/p>\n\n<p>Although the Immigration Rules contain limited circumstances in which a short period of overstaying may be disregarded, you should not rely on these provisions in order to make a Student visa application.<\/p>\n\n<p>The University will not normally issue a CAS to support an application from inside the UK where you have overstayed your immigration permission.<\/p>\n\n<p>If your visa is due to expire and you do not think you will be able to submit a valid Student visa application in time, contact International Student Services immediately. You may need to leave the UK before your current permission expires and apply from overseas.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n<div  class=\"wp-block collapsibleRow \">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"collapsibleRow__wrapper\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"collapsibleRow__item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<input  type=\"checkbox\" name=\"collapsibleRow_group_6175\" class=\"is-sr-only collapsibleRow_group_checkbox collapsibleRow_checkbox\" id=\"collapsibleRow_group_6175_5397\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t<label id=\"collapsibleRow_group_label_6175_5397\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapsibleRow_group_6175_5397\" role=\"button\" for=\"collapsibleRow_group_6175_5397\" class=\"collapsibleRow__title base-text has-grey-light-background-color has-black-color\"><span class=\"is-sr-only\">Toggle collapsibleRow<\/span>07 \u2013 When can I submit my Student visa application?<\/label>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"panel\" hidden aria-labelledby=\"collapsibleRow_group_label_6175_5397\" id=\"collapsibleRow_group_6175_5397\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n<p>If you are applying from inside the UK for a <strong>new course<\/strong>, the earliest you can normally submit your Student visa application is <strong>three months before the course start date shown on your CAS<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>You must submit your application before your current immigration permission expires.<\/p>\n\n<p>Your new course must also normally start no more than <strong>28 days after your current immigration permission expires<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>If you are applying for additional permission to continue a course you are already studying, for example because you need more time to complete a PhD, the three-month restriction does not apply in the same way.<\/p>\n\n<p>You should apply as soon as reasonably possible once you:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">have received your CAS;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">meet all of the Student visa requirements; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">have prepared any supporting documents you need.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>UKVI currently advises that Student visa applications made inside the UK are usually decided within <strong>eight weeks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n<div  class=\"wp-block collapsibleRow \">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"collapsibleRow__wrapper\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"collapsibleRow__item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<input  type=\"checkbox\" name=\"collapsibleRow_group_7657\" class=\"is-sr-only collapsibleRow_group_checkbox collapsibleRow_checkbox\" id=\"collapsibleRow_group_7657_6612\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t<label id=\"collapsibleRow_group_label_7657_6612\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapsibleRow_group_7657_6612\" role=\"button\" for=\"collapsibleRow_group_7657_6612\" class=\"collapsibleRow__title base-text has-grey-light-background-color has-black-color\"><span class=\"is-sr-only\">Toggle collapsibleRow<\/span>08 \u2013 How long is my CAS valid for?<\/label>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"panel\" hidden aria-labelledby=\"collapsibleRow_group_label_7657_6612\" id=\"collapsibleRow_group_7657_6612\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n<p>Your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) can normally be used to make a Student visa application for up to <strong>six months from the date it was assigned<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>A CAS can only be used for one visa application. Once it has been used, it cannot normally be used again.<\/p>\n\n<p>If you are applying from inside the UK for a new course, you must also not normally submit your application more than <strong>three months before the course start date<\/strong> shown on your CAS.<\/p>\n\n<p>If your previous visa application was refused or withdrawn, contact International Student Services before making another application. We will need to determine whether a new CAS is required.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n<div  class=\"wp-block collapsibleRow \">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"collapsibleRow__wrapper\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"collapsibleRow__item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<input  type=\"checkbox\" name=\"collapsibleRow_group_9182\" class=\"is-sr-only collapsibleRow_group_checkbox collapsibleRow_checkbox\" id=\"collapsibleRow_group_9182_922\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t<label id=\"collapsibleRow_group_label_9182_922\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapsibleRow_group_9182_922\" role=\"button\" for=\"collapsibleRow_group_9182_922\" class=\"collapsibleRow__title base-text has-grey-light-background-color has-black-color\"><span class=\"is-sr-only\">Toggle collapsibleRow<\/span>09 \u2013 What should I do if information on my CAS is incorrect?<\/label>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"panel\" hidden aria-labelledby=\"collapsibleRow_group_label_9182_922\" id=\"collapsibleRow_group_9182_922\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n<p>Check your CAS carefully as soon as you receive it.<\/p>\n\n<p>In particular, check your:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">name and passport details;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">date of birth;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">course title;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">course start and end dates;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">tuition fees;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">tuition fee payments already made;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">qualifications used to obtain your offer; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">ATAS information, where applicable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>If any information appears to be incorrect, contact International Student Services before submitting your Student visa application.<\/p>\n\n<p>Do not submit an application using information that you know is incorrect and assume that it can be corrected afterwards.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n<div  class=\"wp-block collapsibleRow \">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"collapsibleRow__wrapper\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"collapsibleRow__item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<input  type=\"checkbox\" name=\"collapsibleRow_group_1089\" class=\"is-sr-only collapsibleRow_group_checkbox collapsibleRow_checkbox\" id=\"collapsibleRow_group_1089_8566\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t<label id=\"collapsibleRow_group_label_1089_8566\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapsibleRow_group_1089_8566\" role=\"button\" for=\"collapsibleRow_group_1089_8566\" class=\"collapsibleRow__title base-text has-grey-light-background-color has-black-color\"><span class=\"is-sr-only\">Toggle collapsibleRow<\/span>10 \u2013 I have made a further payment to the University after receiving my CAS. Will my CAS automatically be updated?<\/label>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"panel\" hidden aria-labelledby=\"collapsibleRow_group_label_1089_8566\" id=\"collapsibleRow_group_1089_8566\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n<p>No.<\/p>\n\n<p>If you make an additional tuition fee payment after your CAS has been issued, do not assume that your CAS will automatically show the new payment.<\/p>\n\n<p>Contact the University so that we can check that your payment has been received and update your CAS where appropriate.<\/p>\n\n<p>Tuition fees you have already paid can normally be deducted from the amount you need to demonstrate for your visa application where the payment is recorded on your CAS or otherwise evidenced in a way permitted by UKVI.<\/p>\n\n<p>It is your responsibility to make sure that the information on your CAS is correct before submitting your Student visa application.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n<div  class=\"wp-block collapsibleRow \">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div route.<\/p>\n\n<p>Questions may include:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">why you chose your course;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">why you chose the University of Gloucestershire;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">what you know about your course;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">your previous studies;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">why you want to continue studying in the history.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>The purpose is not to test whether you have memorised prepared answers.<\/p>\n\n<p>You should answer naturally, honestly and in your own words.<\/p>\n\n<p>UKVI may consider whether you are a genuine student and your ability to communicate in English.<\/p>\n\n<p>If UKVI asks you to attend an interview, you must follow the instructions carefully. partner or child can only apply as your Student dependant if you meet the Student dependant eligibility requirements.<\/p>\n\n<p>You will normally need to be:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">a government-sponsored student studying a course lasting more than six months; or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">studying a qualifying postgraduate research course lasting at least nine months, such as a PhD, other doctoral qualification or research-based higher degree.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>There are also provisions which may allow existing Student dependants to extend their permission in certain circumstances.<\/p>\n\n<p>Your dependant must also be eligible to make their application from inside the UK.<\/p>\n\n<p>They cannot normally switch to Student dependant permission from inside the UK if they currently have, or were last granted, permission as a Visitor, Short-term Student, Parent of a Child Student, Seasonal Worker or Domestic Worker in a Private circumstances.<\/p>\n\n<p>A dependant will normally need:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">a valid passport or other accepted travel document;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">information about your Student visa or pending Student application;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">evidence of their relationship to you;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">financial evidence, where allows a Student Sponsor to permit a student to begin a new course before UKVI has decided their application where the relevant requirements are met.<\/p>\n\n<p>These include that:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">the University has assigned you a CAS;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">you submitted a valid Student visa application before starting the new course; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">you submitted the application before your previous immigration permission expired.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Additional requirements can apply depending on whether you are continuing with the same sponsor or changing Student sponsor.<\/p>\n\n<p>Starting your course before UKVI has granted your new Student visa is <strong>at your own risk<\/strong>, because your application could subsequently be refused.<\/p>\n\n<p>You must therefore not assume that you can enrol or start your new course while your application is pending. It is not normally an opportunity simply to submit a new application with different evidence.<\/p>\n\n<p>You cannot pursue an Administrative Review and make a new immigration application at the same time. finished.<\/p>\n\n<p>For most students:<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Course lasting 12 months or longer<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Four months after the course end aria-labelledby=\"collapsibleRow_group_label_8952_5954\" id=\"collapsibleRow_group_8952_5954\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n<p>Your right to work depends on the conditions attached to your Student visa and the course you are studying.<\/p>\n\n<p>Students studying a full-time course at degree level or above with an eligible Higher Education Provider are normally permitted to work:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">up to <strong>20 hours per week during term time<\/strong>; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">full-time during official vacation periods, where the course has an official vacation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Some Student visa holders have a lower weekly work limit or are not permitted to work.<\/p>\n\n<p>The weekly limit applies across <strong>all jobs combined<\/strong>, not separately to each employer.<\/p>\n\n<p>There are also restrictions on the type of work you can undertake. Student visa holders must not normally:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">be self-employed;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">engage in business activity;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">work as a professional sportsperson or sports coach;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">work as an entertainer; or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">fill a permanent full-time vacancy, except where a specific Immigration Rules exception applies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>You are responsible for making sure that any work you undertake complies with the conditions attached to your Student visa.<\/p>\n\n<p>Postgraduate students should be particularly careful when deciding whether they are in term time.
