Biography

Jackie joined the University of Gloucestershire in June 2021 as the Deputy-Vice-Chancellor. Before that she was a Pro Vice-Chancellor at both the University of Sheffield and De Montfort University and also previously Head of the Graduate School and Director of the Humanities Research Centre at the University of Warwick.

Jackie has overall responsibility for the development and delivery of the academic portfolio and for academic planning and budgeting.  She oversees the development of the university’s apprenticeship provision and works closely with colleagues on academic workforce planning.

She leads Heads of School in delivering on the university’s ambitions, and is beginning a programme around diversifying the portfolio and developing the curriculum to take account of the current and future educational needs of students.

Jackie is a Professor of British Literature and specialises in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries; is the author of five monographs and more than 50 articles and essays, and has a PhD in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania.
