Jackie has overall responsibility for the development and delivery of the academic portfolio.

Biography

Jackie joined the University of Gloucestershire in June 2021 as the Deputy-Vice-Chancellor and Provost. Before that she was a Pro Vice-Chancellor at both the University of Sheffield and De Montfort University and also previously Head of the Graduate School and Director of the Humanities Research Centre at the University of Warwick.

Jackie has overall responsibility for the development and delivery of the academic portfolio and for academic planning and budgeting.  She leads the four Heads of School and the Director of the CCRI and guides, supports, and facilitates their strategic leadership. She also provides leadership on academic workforce planning, and oversees the University’s Research Office, its Student Futures office, and Academic Quality, Enhancement and Innovation.

Jackie is leading on the development of a Civic University Agreement, working with Hartpury and the RAU, and is also the University’s key contact for local and regional industry in culture, heritage, and computing/cyber, including ongoing work with Cheltenham Borough Council, Plexal and HBD in relation to the Golden Valley development.

Jackie is a Professor of British Literature and specialises in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. She is the author of five monographs and more than 50 articles and essays, and has a PhD in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania.
