I have a life long passion for sport and exercise, particularly in football, badminton, rugby and training. This has lead to an interest in how the body works and adapts to these stresses and strains we place on it. Chevron icon

Biography

I have been at the University since 2010. I have a passion for sport and exercise, particularly in football, badminton, rugby and training. My area of interest is in energy expenditure during rest and physical activity with a focus on economy of human movement. I am a BASES accredited Sport Scientist who has worked with GB Equestrian, Cheltenham Town FC, and various rugby clubs providing performance analysis, profiling and optimum performance. My current support is based around Gloucestershire Fire Service, providing fitness testing, training and advice and running placements for our students.

Mark contributes to Sport and Exercise Physiology modules as well as Performance Analysis modules across the undergraduate degree programmes.

Research

Mark is an accredited physiologist with two main areas of expertise. Firstly, his research examines the energy expenditure during rest and physical activity. Secondly, he has an interest in performance analysis of various different sports.
