I’ve been a journalist for more than 30 years. Over that time I’ve mentored dozens of journalists and built up a wealth of knowledge and experience in reporting, law and politics, mixing traditional skills with the latest digital storytelling techniques. My most recent jobs include deputy editor of The Bath Chronicle and regional editorial trainer for what is now Britain’s biggest regional media company, Reach. I still write regularly, including a blog on journalism – which I still believe is the best job in the world. I go back into newsrooms to work as a reporter every summer to keep my skills fresh and to ensure our industry links are superb. I love teaching and I love being a personal tutor – it’s a real privilege and a great source of pride.
I teach news reporting, media law and politics, and help lead our news days.
I write regularly for regional media and write my own blog.
