I have been involved in youth work since I was a young person myself and have substantial experience of working in different ways and settings and still volunteer today. My teaching is enhanced by this experience and my current PHD studies. Chevron icon

Biography

I have been involved in youth work since I was a young person myself and have substantial experience of working with young people in different ways and settings and still volunteer today. My specialised areas include community settings, models of youth provision, faith based work, spirituality, ideas development, residential activities and event planning. My academic studies have complemented by practice, as I progressed from getting a degree qualifying me to now PHD level.

  • BA: Informal and Community Education, George Williams College/Canterbury Christ Church University, 2006
  • PGCert: Post Gradaute Certificate in Higher Education, University of Gloucestershire, 2010
  • Masters: Reflective Practice and Applied Theology, CYM/Oxford Brookes University, 2012

I am a qualified youth worker as my degree allowed me JNC status.

Teaching & Research

Teaching

I currently teach study skills, various practice/theory modules linked with children and young people, integrated working, community development, working with people and organisations, strategic youth work and social education

Research

My PHD studies focus on understanding how communities have responded to changes in youth services since 2010. I am also undertaking research on the learning journeys that people experience as a result of being involved in our RIDE (resources for inclusion and diversity) Erasmus plus project.
