I have been involved in youth work since I was a young person myself and have substantial experience of working with young people in different ways and settings and still volunteer today. My specialised areas include community settings, models of youth provision, faith based work, spirituality, ideas development, residential activities and event planning. My academic studies have complemented by practice, as I progressed from getting a degree qualifying me to now PHD level.
I am a qualified youth worker as my degree allowed me JNC status.
Professional member of The Institute for Youth Work.
Fellow of the Higher education Academy.
I currently teach study skills, various practice/theory modules linked with children and young people, integrated working, community development, working with people and organisations, strategic youth work and social education
My PHD studies focus on understanding how communities have responded to changes in youth services since 2010. I am also undertaking research on the learning journeys that people experience as a result of being involved in our RIDE (resources for inclusion and diversity) Erasmus plus project.
