Richard Millican

Senior Lecturer in Education Studies

I have worked as a teacher and teacher trainer across sectors in England and overseas including Spain, Egypt and Oman. I am particularly interested in how education can help social justice and in education for sustainable development.

Biography

I started my educational career as a Teacher of English as a Foreign Language in Spain and have worked in many different sectors and environments since, in England and overseas. I am fascinated by the topic of education in its broadest sense and enjoy exploring issues with colleagues and students. I am particularly interested in the contribution education can make to a socially just and sustainable world.

External responsibilities

Project member of ‘Rounder Sense of Purpose’ – an Erasmus funded collaboration between the University and colleagues in Netherlands, Cyprus, Hungary, Estonia, Spain, Germany, Switzerland and Italy to devise a qualification of Educators of Education for Sustainable Development.
