We’re transforming how technology powers our organisation and we need passionate leaders and innovators to help us deliver. We are seeking two Heads of Service to shape and drive delivery – Head of Digital Services and Head of IT Operations and Security.
Digital and Technology Services is evolving into two specialist teams, working together to deliver exceptional user experiences and secure, reliable infrastructure:

Julia Lloyd, Director
of Estates and IT
Digital Services
- Lead the way on digital solutions and innovation. A team of engineers, analysts and testers who design and develop solutions in response to business needs and looking to develop existing practice and capabilities. With a focus on data services, automation, corporate systems and learning environments.
- Drive digital learning, empowering colleagues to make the most of modern tools. The team supports all staff with teaching responsibilities to design and deliver effective and engaging learning experiences using a range of digital tools and pedagogical approaches.
IT Operations & Security Team
The new structure will support teaching, learning, and operational services through secure, accessible, and future-ready digital platforms.
- Deliver excellent first- and second-line support.
- Manage our infrastructure, hardware, and networking.
- Safeguard our systems through cyber security.
- Oversee cloud services, ensuring scalability, resilience, and sustainability. Including cost management.

Head of Digital Services
For Head of Digital Services, we are looking for someone who:
- Has proven experience of working IT, system development or equivalent role.
- Is solution focused and can drive change to mature the Digital Services offering.
- Interest in and understands the Higher Education sector and how IT can enhance teaching and learning.
Head of IT Operations and Security
For Head of IT Operations and Security we are looking for someone who:
- Is skilled at building strong, secure, and user-focused IT operations.
- Has experience of working in cyber security role and understand cyber security principle and frameworks.
- Understands cloud security, network security, endpoint security, and encryption techniques.

Terms of employment and benefits
Location: While the posts are based at our Park campus, the post holder may be based at any premises the University occupies and will be required to work at any University site or any other reasonable location where the University is undertaking its business.
Reports to: Director of Estates and IT
Responsible for: The Head of Digital Services is responsible for the Digital Service team.
The Head of IT Operations & Security is responsible for the IT Operations team.
Salary: Grade 9 – £58,226 – £67,469
Pension: You will be employed by University of Gloucestershire Professional Services Limited (UoGPSL) and our pension equates to 15% total contribution. If you have existing continuous LGPS or USS service, you will be eligible to continue membership of these schemes .
Working hours: This is a full-time post. The ability and willingness to adopt a flexible approach to working hours and duties is expected, and you may be required to work additional hours from time to time to fulfil the requirements of your role and the needs of the department.
Holiday: 32 days plus any closure days and bank holidays.
