UCAS Clearing

UCAS Clearing 2022 is now closed, check back next year for Clearing 2023.

What is UCAS Clearing?

Clearing is your chance to get a place at university for 2022/23. It takes place between July and October each year.

It’s a great opportunity if you’ve missed the conditions of your offer, are applying for the first time, or had a change of heart about the university you want to go to or course you want to study.

“My top three tips I would give for anyone who is wanting to apply by clearing would be:

  1. Keep an open mind, because anything can happen.
  2. Be prepared, come with any questions you may have whilst you’re having the phone call.
  3. Get support from your family and friends, because sometimes you may not always get the outcome you are wanting.

Keeping your mind open, and having support helps massively.”

“My experience going through clearing was really really positive. I called up the clearing team, within a week I had an interview with the course lead and then just under a month later I started the course.

For anyone who is thinking about going through clearing, I would say just go for it.

There’s probably never going to be a more perfect time, and honestly I wouldn’t be where I am today without going through clearing – so it is definitely definitely worth it.”

“The University of Gloucestershire supported me going through my clearing journey just by making it incredibly easy, there was no stress involved.

I always knew there was someone on the end of the phone or end of an email as I went through the process.

I got the feeling, and I still do now that people really want to help and they really want you to get on that journey of education. So absolutely I would say go for it.”

“Clearing is a good option if you’re still confused about exactly what you want to do, or where you want to go.

For me it was on results day, I did better than I thought, so I could apply to a better university or a better course.

I can’t imagine not being a UoG alumni, but that wouldn’t have happened if I didn’t go through clearing and pluck up the courage to check out what else was out there.”
