Working in our dedicated studios and 3D workshops, you’ll develop a broad range of technical and practical artistic skills. These include drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, digital technologies, photography, video, performance, text and sound.
In our creative community, you’ll explore the practical and conceptual possibilities of a range of different forms and media. We do this together through four distinct ways of making and thinking: Drawing, Proactivity, Studio and Curiosity. Through these, the course develops entrepreneurial and inventive creative practitioners.
Our community focuses on collaboration and fun, and we have placement opportunities in therapeutic practices, education, artists’ studios, theatre, galleries, and museums.
You’ll get the chance to showcase your work in exhibitions and visit galleries through our international trips. In your first year you’ll enjoy a residential, working and living together with professional artists on an annual landscape residency.

This course is available to study with an integrated foundation year – an extra, introductory year at the beginning of the full degree. If you don’t meet the stated entry requirements or you’re returning to education, it could be a great option that enables you to study this course.
As well as an introduction to your subject, it will help you to develop valuable study skills, and communication, teamwork and problem-solving techniques, giving you the confidence and skills set you need to progress.
If you’re applying to study as an international student, an integrated foundation year can also support you to improve your English language skills alongside your studies.

We welcome applicants with a pass in a relevant Foundation or Extended Diploma (Level 3 or 4).
English Language or Literature and Maths Grade 4/C in GCSE (or equivalent) are normally required.
This course is available with an additional integrated foundation year. This four year option has lower entry requirements – see below – than the other study type/s available.

We accept Access to Higher Education Diplomas and make offers on an individual basis.

We offer placements in a wide range of creative areas, giving you the chance to gain valuable real-world experience and build professional networks.
The studio is the cornerstone of our approach in Fine Art. Exclusively practice-based, the course immerses students in large, well-lit studios and workshops, fostering creativity and exploration.
Our staff, all practising artists, bring their expertise and research into the studio, enriching the learning experience. With a focus on collaborative learning, students explore their creativity through hands-on making.
Our Fine Art students are curious, and research focused. Our course offers many opportunities for encountering and experiencing culture and places.
We run regular international trips – recent destinations include Rome, Lisbon, Prague and Venice.
All our first-year students take part in a landscape residency, working on projects with professional artists.
As well as being taught by our team of practising artists, we invite artists, curators and performers to visit our programme and work with students on live projects and seminars.
We work closely with our network of partners to provide our students with collaborative and valuable experiences of creative practice which help them develop sustainable ways of working for the future.
