There is growing recognition that effective coaching is not only about developing better athletes but also about developing better people. To achieve this important goal, coach education programmes are required to help a coach foster high quality, interpersonal relationships. Developed by a team of researchers across Canada and the United States, the Transformational Coaching workshop is an innovative, evidence-informed workshop designed to enhance coach leadership skills, and ultimately improve the quality of their interpersonal relationships. By becoming a more effective leader, coaches can positively contribute to their athletes' performance, long-term participation, and personal development.
This interactive half-day workshop will enhance coach understanding of themselves as a leader and help them develop leadership skills that will inspire, empower, and bring out the best in others. Interactive and reflective activities will increase coaches' understanding of the principles of transformational coaching and their ability to develop strategies for implementing transformational coaching behaviours in their own coaching practice. Additionally, coaches will be provided with an opportunity to develop an action plan for making positive changes in their leadership behaviours.
