Students launch new record label and album

The University has created a brand new record label which will be launching its first ever album on 21 March.

BOXED Records, a label run by Music and Media Management students at the University, will be hosting an album release at The Swan in Cheltenham.

The ‘Copenhagen/Malmo Compilation Album 2019′ features eleven up and coming artists who performed at this years’ ‘Out The Box Productions’ annual international event. All artists featured on the album will be playing on the night and attendees will be given the chance to buy one of the physical copies ahead of the midnight release. The students behind the label have been drawing from their own experiences in the industry as many of them have worked with companies such as Warner Music and Sony Entertainment.

University Music and Media Management student, Vinisha Nadarajah, said:

“We are very excited for this launch, not just for BOXED Records but also for all the artists featured on this album. The team behind the label have fantastic connections with those in the industry and we are eager to help our artists get their sound out there with future EP, single and album launches.”

University Lecturer in Music Business, Andrew Lansley, said:

“It has been amazing to watch the students work towards this launch, combining their experience of international events planning with empowering their contemporaries within the music subject group. In creating this new label and releasing this compilation album they continue to develop the output of the University into regional and international markets. We’re all very excited to see what they do next.”

BOXED Records is hosting the album release launch on the Thursday 21 March at 6:30 PM at The Swan in Cheltenham, and the album will be available on all streaming platforms at midnight the same night.
