The University of Gloucestershire’s Students’ Union hosted their annual Christmas Tea Dance yesterday at their Park Campus. Guests accompanied students onto the dancefloor for a series of Ballroom and Latin dances.

The Tea Dance adheres is a long-standing tradition at the University and has been taking place since 1996, offering students the opportunity to volunteer and interact with members of the community.

This year’s event saw around 80 guests, who came from Cheltenham, Gloucester, Tewkesbury and surrounding areas. Student volunteers welcomed guests, served refreshments and enjoyed a few dances with members of the community.

The Students’ Union has over five hundred student volunteers who contribute to community work including the Freshers’ Volunteers, who welcome new students each September and the Student Community Patrollers, who patrol the night-time economy areas of Cheltenham on student nights.

Imaani Mitchell, Students’ Union President at the University of Gloucestershire, said:
“The Tea Dance is such a great event that both staff and student volunteers look forward to each year. I very much enjoyed joining the student volunteers as they learnt the dance steps and served our guests with tea and cake. This is a unique event and a highlight in our volunteers’ time at the University of Gloucestershire.”
