University shortlisted for three national customer service awards

The University of Gloucestershire has been recognised at a national level for its outstanding customer service.

The University has been selected as a finalist in three categories by an independent panel of judges from the WOW! Awards who recognise people who have gone the extra mile to provide outstanding service.

The University has been selected for two organisation awards – Best Use of the WOW! Awards Programme: Best Organisation and Putting Customers First: Large Business.

Head of Facilities, Andy Simpson and Insurance Manager, Elaine Arundel, have also been nominated for the Going the Extra Mile (Private Sector) Award.

The University joined the WOW! Awards in October 2014, giving students, staff and visitors the opportunity to nominate members of University staff who have gone that extra mile. The University is amongst many other organisations such as the NHS, police, local authorities and other education establishments that run the scheme.

Over the last year WOW! have rated thousands of nominations from many customers around the world, telling them how great the service is they have experienced. They have now selected the best nominations and placed them into 15 categories for this year’s finals.

Stewart Dove, Director of Student Support at the University of Gloucestershire, said: “For the University to be selected as finalists in three categories highlights our commitment to giving excellent customer service to our students every day. The Wow! Awards help the University to hear from our student community about individual staff members delivering great service across the institution. In excess of 500 nominations have been received over the past two academic years to highlight the great work of individuals. The University has found that being part of the Wow! Awards is proving to be motivational for our employees and supports our delivery of customer service to a consistently high standard.”

Elaine Arundel, Insurance Manager at the University of Gloucestershire, added: “I’m really surprised, I was not expecting it at all. Even though I’m just doing my job, it’s really nice to be recognised by my fellow staff members.”

The winners will be announced in November at a Gala awards ceremony in London.
