University welcomes local businesses and students to new School of Business and Technology

Opening its doors to students 10 September 2018, the university’s new School of Business and Technology at Oxstalls campus is the jewel in the crown for recent campus developments.

The multi-million-pound centre, encompassing Gloucestershire’s flagship Growth Hub, forms a key part of the University’s 2022 Strategic Plan, which also sees development of an iconic Design Centre, improved facilities for new nursing and paramedic science courses, and enhancement of the 65-acre Oxstalls Sports Park.

The new School of Business and Technology features a business incubation centre, Thompson Reuters trading rooms, its own moot courtroom, and equipment on par with that of corporate headquarters the world over – facilities that are available for hire to support existing businesses.

The university becomes the UK’s first university with integrated Local Enterprise Partnership, Gfirst LEP and Growth Hub, bringing together business, expert staff and students. The Growth Hub, a partnership between Gfirst LEP and the university, plays a vital role in helping local businesses grow and provide students with crucial industry experience relating to their course.

The opportunities provided by the university and the Growth Hub have recently featured in an ITN Productions video for Universities UK, demonstrating the opportunities students have to work with real businesses.

University Vice-Chancellor, Stephen Marston, said:

“Working with businesses locally is a key part of what we do. The new school of Business and Technology has been specifically designed to inspire learning, support new businesses and develop the University’s partnerships with existing companies.
The building uniquely brings together our students, expert staff and businesses together into a state-of-the-art new development.
We focus on how we can provide a better service for businesses. As well as educating students, the new School of Business and Technology is a place where we are offering services for business.”
