We’re backing Gloucestershire
A report gathered by staff at the Contemporary Accounting Research Centre at the University of Gloucestershire found that the Cheltenham Festival during March brings £100million to the county economy. The four day festival is the highlight of the Jump season in the UK and Ireland as almost 250,000 people attend making it the biggest festival in Jump racing in the UK.
Professor Neil Towers from the University of Gloucestershire who oversaw the project stated, “The Cheltenham Festival is a major contributor to the Gloucestershire economy”.
The Jockey Club regional director, Ian Renton added that The Jockey Club have always known for many years that a significant turnover is made between the four days “but are delighted that we have been able to put a figure on this impact”. He also thanks the team at the University of Gloucestershire for “bringing this report to life”.
