Rachael Bock

Senior Lecturer in BA Dance

Rachael trained at Ignite Dance Centre and specialises in dance technique, performance and choreography at the University. She has worked as a dancer and choreographer for various professional projects, is founder of Invoke Dance Company, and works as a guest choreographer for youth dance companies…

Biography

Rachael has worked as a dancer, choreographer, course leader and lecturer for several years. Trained in contemporary, jazz, ballet and musical theatre, Rachael works across performing arts disciplines and has choreographed and directed many works using innovative set design and ideas, as well as full-scale musical productions at professional venues.

Rachael leads modules in her specialist areas, including Dance Performance (contemporary and jazz styles), Advanced Choreography and Healthy Dancer, whilst also leading on strength and conditioning. She has a keen research interest in supplementary training to enhance physical and mental health, performance and well-being in dancers. In addition to her position at the University, she has built and maintained a successful youth dance company, and works as a guest choreographer for youth companies across the West Midlands.

Holding extensive experience in the education and arts sector, Rachael continues to develop the BA (hons) Dance at UoG into a fulfilling programme for aspiring dancers, teachers and choreographers.

The pre-professional dance environment; developing and maintaining physical resilience, investigating prevalence, type and site of dance-related injuries, the effects of supplementary training on dance performance-related parameters, physiological implications of the dance rehearsal and performance process.
