Netball scholarship
Find out more about our netball scholarship at UoG.
Here at UoG we love netball and want our players to thrive in the best possible environment.
We have 3 competitive teams who play in fixtures against other universities in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) league. We also provide recreational netball for those who cannot commit to regular training and fixtures but who love netball and just want to be involved.
All 3 of our BUCS teams are coached by fully qualified coaches. We have a partnership with Hucclecote Netball club and many of our netball students choose to play in competitive leagues with Hucclecote.
Hucclecote first team play in the National Premier League with other teams including regional and county level teams. There is something for everyone at every level.

Meet the coach: Jane Taylor
We are delighted to announce Jane Taylor as the new Head of Netball at University of Gloucestershire.
Jane brings a wealth of experience both on and off the court. From 2018 to 2023, she represented University of Gloucestershire 1st team in BUCS while completing her undergraduate degree in Sports and Exercise Science and later a Master’s in Sports Therapy. During this time, Jane also represented the English Universities national squad across two seasons and competed in the Netball Super League with Severn Stars during the 2020/21 season.
Currently, Jane plays for Hucclecote Netball Club in the National Premier League, where she was honoured as the Premier League Player of the Season for 2023–24, having earned the most Player of the Match awards in Premier League 2.
Jane’s previous coaching roles include Hucclecote netball club and Dean Close school. This year her Hucclecote U14 team reached England Netball National Finals.
Speaking about her new role, Jane said:
“I’m really excited to be taking on the role of Head Netball Coach. It’s a fantastic opportunity to give back to the university that supported me throughout my studies and playing career. I’m passionate about sharing my love for the game, supporting players in their development both on and off the court, and creating an environment where everyone can thrive and enjoy their netball journey.”
We are thrilled to welcome Jane back to University of Gloucestershire and look forward to seeing the positive impact she will bring to our netball programme this year and beyond.
