Having completed my degree I completed a training contract with a predecessor firm of Ernst and Young (now EY) one of the ‘big 4’ firms, qualifying as a chartered accountant. I worked for EY in accounting and auditing for 15 years including a year in the United States. After a short spell in industry I have worked, and continue to work alongside my University activites, as co-Principal in a firm of chartered accountants with a range of clients providing current and practical input to my teaching.

Teaching in financial reporting and tax is delivered using a mix of lecturing, active tutorial sessions, discussions and group presentations, underpinning the academic with practical case studies and ‘hot topics’ from current professional practice.
