Accounting, auditing and tax practice are constantly developing with fresh aspects to learn and understand, and as they often make news headlines, provide many opportunities for lively discussion in class.

Biography

Having completed my degree I completed a training contract with a predecessor firm of Ernst and Young (now EY) one of the ‘big 4’ firms, qualifying as a chartered accountant. I worked for EY in accounting and auditing for 15 years including a year in the United States. After a short spell in industry I have worked, and continue to work alongside my University activites, as co-Principal in a firm of chartered accountants with a range of clients providing current and practical input to my teaching.

Teaching in financial reporting and tax is delivered using a mix of lecturing, active tutorial sessions, discussions and group presentations, underpinning the academic with practical case studies and ‘hot topics’ from current professional practice.
