I have over 30 years experience including critical care nursing, military nursing and healthcare education working with the NHS, MoD, independent and voluntary healthcare sectors and higher education. Educational achievements include undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degrees in nursing and education. I am a Churchill Fellow and was awarded my fellowship by the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust to study patient safety and inter-professional education in healthcare curricula and the impact upon care delivery.

My learning and teaching focus includes: Service Evaluation and Quality Improvement; Advanced Professional Practice; Simulation based education; Appreciating evidence for practice; Inter-professional learning and patient safety.
My primary research focus centres around simulation based education (SBE) and understanding how SBE within healthcare education impacts upon the delivery of safe and effective patient care. I am interested in pedagogical approaches to research and in particular the experience of learning and working for health and social care students. I use and teach qualitative research approaches which informs my postgraduate research supervision and examination.
