Graduation is a special day and we recognise that not all of your friends and family will be able to attend in person. Our graduation ceremonies are professionally filmed and broadcast live on the web, and footage is also posted on the university website after your ceremony.
On the day
Merchandise and certificates
Graduates, including those from partner colleges, must wear full University of Gloucestershire academic dress to take part in the ceremonies. Academic dress should always be pre-booked as soon as possible from the University's official supplier,
Ede and Ravenscroft. You will need to know the level of your award (eg Bachelors, Masters, Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma), the name of the University and the ceremony date to be able to book. You must make sure you have hired your academic dress 21 days before your ceremony, and once booked you will be able to collect it at the venue on the day.
Please bring your booking receipt with you.
Please be aware that ceremonies are a formal occasion and therefore jeans, T-shirts, sports attire etc. are not permitted. It is suggested that you wear smart clothes.
- It may be useful to bring some safety pins with you to secure the hood to your gown if you don’t have buttons on your clothing.
- It is your responsibility to make your own arrangements with Ede and Ravenscroft for the hire of academic gowns – You will not be allowed to take part in the ceremony without the appropriate academic dress.
Graduate Diploma Students
If you are graduating with a Graduate Diploma – please select the option for ‘University Certificate/Diploma’ when ordering your gown.
Gowns can be collected from the Betting Hall (access through the Pre-Sales area). Please ensure that you bring the booking reference number / confirmation e-mail with you. It is your responsibility to hire your gown. If you have not already done so please contact the gowning company via their website www.edeandravenscroft.com or telephone 01223 861854. If you do not have a gown, you will not be able to take part in the ceremony.
It is recommended that you wear a top or shirt that buttons up to the neck, as this makes it easier to attach the hood. Alternatively, please bring safety pins with you!
Official photography on the day is provided by Ede and Ravenscroft. There will be signs around the Centaur to point you in the right direction, and photography starts at the same time as gowning. It usually finishes around an hour after the end of the last ceremony.
Ede and Ravenscroft run photography on a first come, first served basis, however if you pre-order it means you won't have to queue at the sales desk.
The busiest times are just before and just after a ceremony, and the photography staff will provide you with a scroll to hold.
Your photographs will be sent to you by post four to six weeks after the ceremony.
If you have any questions, you can find out more on their
website or contact the Customer Services Team directly at
firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 01223 861854.
