UoG ranked first in South West for Lecturers and Teaching Quality by students

University of Gloucestershire has been rated number one in the South West for Lecturers and Teaching Quality by students in the Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2026.

The Whatuni Student Choice Awards (WUSCAs) are the largest annual awards in the UK where the rankings across a range of categories are decided by tens of thousands of student reviews collected by organisers at campus visits and through the Whatuni website.

University of Gloucestershire captured the number one spot in the South West for Lecturers and Teaching Quality after students described it as ‘a great place to study because of strong teaching quality and excellent academic support’ and said lecturers had ‘gone above and beyond to provide additional assistance’ and ‘care about their students’.

The University, which rose eight places to 77th overall in the national WUSCA rankings, achieved positive results across a number of other categories:

These results follow recent industry awards for the University’s new City Campus, a new cutting-edge centre for teaching, learning and community services in the heart of Gloucester.

Dame Clare Marchant DBE, Vice-Chancellor of the University, said: “We’re delighted to have achieved such excellent results in this year’s Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2026, including first place in the South West for Lecturers and Teaching Quality.

“Students are at the heart of every decision we make. We want to make sure they gain the skills, qualifications and confidence they need for rewarding careers and successful lives.

“That’s why it means so much to see the dedication of our staff to providing students with a great experience is reflected in so many positive reviews by students themselves.

“We’d like to say a huge thank-you to our students for submitting their reviews to Whatuni and our staff for their continued commitment to delivering the best for our students.”
