Biography
Advisory board member of the Finance in Society Research Institute (University of Gloucestershire) which was formed to develop high quality research to support policymakers and industry to improve access to financial services and tackle financial exclusion. Edward completed his MSc in finance focusing on the impact of Chartered Insurance Institute’s Vulnerable Client qualification.
A Chartered Financial Planner, Chartered Wealth Manager and Fellow of the Personal Finance Society, Edward has built a reputation as a popular speaker with large and small audiences of advisers, professional connections, and clients across the UK.
Past president and board member of the Personal Finance Society (PFS), the largest financial services professional body (with over 40,000 members 2022), a former vice president of the Chartered Insurance Institute (with over 120,000 members in 2022), Chair of the TISA Tax Committee, CII Pension Trustee and Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Insurers.
Responsibilities at St James’s Place
Eddie Grant is Director, Technical Connection at St James’s Place, responsible for the following:
- Extensive market leading technical (tax, trust, pensions) support answering over 500,000 technical queries a year
- Professional development across the SJP community, including over 1,100 Chartered advisers and the pioneering MSc and MBA programme with University of Gloucestershire.
- Support for clients in vulnerable circumstances raising awareness of the spectrum of needs and support available including our cost of living “Resilience in a changing world podcast”.
- Advice policy setting the strategy and development to deliver great client outcomes.
- Accreditation and licensing of the SJP Partnership, employees, and support teams including our relationship with the professional bodies.
- Technical Employee Academy nurturing apprentices through a programme to Chartered status
- Host of the thought-provoking industry podcast “Techlink in Conversation” raising knowledge and awareness of a wide range of themes including Vulnerability, Technical, Research, and Role of Professional Bodies.
